♥ It's Party Time at Lafayette ♥
(I thought I'd share some French with you!)
Without a doubt, The Lafayette building has had quite a life! In the mid 1980s various scandals emerged revolving around drugs, drunks and riots. The building had severely deteriorated and Long Beach wanted it demolished. Lucky for us, by the early 1990s it took a turn for the better and has survived as one of the most beautiful buildings in Downtown.

The Lafayette building is a historic East Village landmark that sits at the heart of Downtown Long Beach. This building dates back to 1922 but it was not until 1929 that it was named The Lafayette. Built to house the city's elite in the most luxurious apartments, the hotel was and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the city.
Today, however, these apartments are now condos. The conversion took place in 1968 which turns out to be the first building on the West Coast do have done this.

"The complex is composed of 173 units, ranging from studios to two-bedroom condos, and includes refurbished Art Deco-style common areas, and a garden patio. The eleventh-floor solarium has impressive views of the entire L.A. basin and harbor. The ground floor also houses commercial, retail and gallery space." -Official Website of The Lafayette
