An afternoon on Retro Row for Fourth of July...
4:00 AM♥ Today's look is absolutely perfect for 4th of July > 4th of July on 4th Street! ♥
I have been wanting to shoot the mini Angelina Pillbox hat for quite some time now. So when Pamela came over with her latest treasure, a fresh white and navy color-blocked dress, I almost had a heart-attack! I am so excited to have finally found the look. What a super sweet vintage find!
Isn't this dress stunning? Although it has a 1970s style pointed collar and navy panelling at the center-front, I can't help but feel the reminiscence of the Marilyn Monroe iconic white dress. Do you agree? It must be the pleats, right?!

Of course this dress would be lovely any day, BUT, when paired with these wedges and the red-white-and-blue purse for Fourth of July, it's the touch that is bound to ignite the fireworks!
And so, here we are venturing out of Downtown to The Art Theatre on 4th Street's "Retro Row", an eclectic community of shops and restaurants who share a love for everything vintage. ( It is one of the hot spots in Long Beach. )
...a little about The Art Theatre...
The Art Theatre first opened its doors in 1924 as "The Carter Theatre" with an asian style reminiscent of the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Unfortunately, 10 years later in 1933, an earthquake struck Long Beach and ruined the theatre. Was it truly unfortunate? Maybe a blessing in disguise! Soon after in 1934, the theatre was remodeled by Schilling & Schilling to its current Art Deco glory. At that time they added the iconic ticket booth and was renamed The Lee Theatre. It was later in 1947 that the theatre finally became known as The Art Theatre.
"Today The Art Theatre is famous for its screening of the most imaginative and stimulating independent, documentary, animated, alternative lifestyle, and foreign language films. After one million dollars of loving restoration, and the addition of a wine bar and coffee bar to round out a full evening experience, we are proud to continue this long-running tradition." - The Art Theatre
...an added bonus...
Across from the theatre is a little garden full of yellow flowers in bloom. I couldn't resist adding this pretty photo to the mix.
What a great day it turned out to be!

Ooohhh, very alluring, glam outfit and series of photos. The red, white and blue colour palette is extra fitting given that we're in the month of Independence Day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outfit post!
